In the works

Coming in the next release

  • SexLikeReal's passthrough videos are recognised while x4u scans your library, so their page, thumbnail and preview show them as fisheye 190° straight away instead of after changing the VR setting by hand. Videos already in your library are looked at once after updating.
  • In VR, hold the grip on any panel and move your hand to swing the controls round to one side or lower them, within reach; x4u remembers how low you like them. Drag Up next's list, or a long row of performers, with the trigger to scroll it, and performers' photos are bigger.
  • Passthrough videos from SexLikeReal play in your room on a Quest: x4u recognises them by their picture, whatever the file's called, and cuts the performer out with the mask they carry, so only they appear in front of you. Passthrough under More turns it off, or on for other videos with a plain background.
  • In VR, hold the grip and move your hand to turn or tilt the picture, and push the stick while holding to zoom; x4u remembers it for that scene, and Reset view under More puts it back. Your controllers show as they really are (Quest Touch Plus, Touch Pro, Quest 2) and your hands as hands, dark with a soft edge, soft sounds answer what you point at and press (Sounds turns them off), and on a Quest, Room shows your room round the library wall and round flat videos.
  • The Theatre: in a headset's browser, Enter the Theatre in the sidebar opens x4u in VR from any page, to a curved wall of your library in a space of its own: For you, Continue watching, Favourites, Newest and your playlists, VR scenes only unless you turn that off. Point at a cover to see its preview; pick it and it plays, from where you left off, without leaving VR. Home on the controls brings the wall back. Search from the wall with a keyboard in VR, and press a performer, tag or studio beside a scene to see the rest of theirs.
  • VR in the headset, redesigned as a theatre: while a scene plays there's only the video. Point at nothing and pull the trigger, or press B, and the dock rises below the view, with the scene beside it (who's in it, its tags and chapters, its favourite and rating) and what's up next on the other side: the playlist, or more like this, each previewing as you point at it. Drag along the scrubber to see each moment's thumbnail, set the volume and speed, and change a scene's VR format or swap its eyes under More. VR carries on from scene to scene, and flat videos play on a big curved screen. The controllers buzz softly as you move between controls.
  • VR headsets connect securely: x4u now serves HTTPS too, which headsets need to play in VR. Settings → Other devices lists the addresses, and how to install x4u's certificate on the headset once so it trusts them.
  • Watch VR in your headset: on a Quest, or any headset's browser, VR videos have an Enter VR button. The video plays around you at full quality, drawn by the headset itself for 180° and 360° videos, with a panel and the controllers' buttons to play, pause, skip and turn the view.
  • VR and other large videos keep playing when a device can't take them as they are: x4u asks first whether the device can play the file, and when a converted size stops loading it moves to the next size down, instead of stopping with an error.
  • Right-click x4u's tray icon to go straight to any page: the Feed, Library, Performers, Studios, Playlists, Tracking, History, Review, Settings or Help.
  • Large screens: on 1440p and 4K monitors everything grows to suit, instead of staying small. Settings → Display chooses a size for each device.
  • Search everything at once: scenes, performers, studios and tags, from the sidebar, the Library on a phone, or Ctrl+K anywhere.
  • Playlists, and Watch later: save scenes from their page, the Feed or several at a time, reorder them, and play them through or shuffled, each scene starting by itself after the last.
  • Markers: mark moments in a scene to come back to, named or not. They split the timeline into chapters.
  • More like this under every scene, and New from who you follow at the top of the Library.
  • The Feed's For you order shows more of what you favourite, rate, watch and follow; Shuffle is still there, and the dice shuffles again. Shuffles are properly random now: neighbouring videos no longer turn up near each other.
  • The player's keys (space, J, K, L, arrows, numbers, M, F) work anywhere on a scene's page, not only after clicking the video; ? lists them. A speed menu, and an A-B loop for playing part of a video over and over.
  • Select in the Library: favourite several scenes at once, or save them to a playlist.
  • Scenes open faster: x4u starts loading one as you rest on its card.

x4u 1.0.0-beta.1

The first public beta.

  • Add your video folders and x4u fingerprints every video in the background, then names your scenes, performers and studios from StashDB.
  • Library: browse and search by performer, studio and tag, with filters for portrait, VR, favourites and ratings.
  • Feed: one scene per screen, swiped like TikTok, each playing its preview and moving on to the next when it ends. Watch starts the full scene from the beginning.
  • Performers and Studios: browse everyone in your library, with a page for each showing what StashDB knows about them. Performers shows women unless you choose otherwise.
  • Tracking: see how much of each performer's and studio's catalogue you have, what you're missing and where to get it. Follow them for their new releases, and keep a Wanted list that clears itself as scenes arrive.
  • Review: pick the right match when there are several, search StashDB for videos it didn't find, and confirm copies of the same video.
  • Timeline thumbnails: rest on or drag along a video's timeline to see frames from that part of it.
  • Resume where you left off, Continue watching, favourites, 1-5 star ratings and History.
  • Phones and tablets on your network, behind a PIN.
  • Weekly backups, backup and restore from Settings, and a copy of your library before every upgrade.
  • Storage: see how much room x4u's data takes and what's left on the drive, with a warning when it runs low, and move x4u's data to another drive from Settings.
  • Windows, macOS and Linux, with ffmpeg included on Windows and Linux.
