Toys and funscripts
A Handy that moves in time with your videos.
A funscript is a small file that says how a toy should move at each moment of a video. Put it beside its video with the same name (video.mp4 and video.funscript) and x4u finds it the next time it looks through your folders. A video with one has a mark on its card, the Library's Scripts button shows only those, and under the player there's a strip of the whole script: blue where it's slow, through green and yellow, to red where it's fast. Click the strip to go to a moment.
To feel it, connect your Handy in Settings → Toys: switch it on, put it in Wi-Fi mode (its light turns purple), and paste its connection key from the Handy's app. Try it moves it up and down. From then on it follows any video with a script, wherever you watch: this computer, a phone, or a headset, with nothing to install on them. It stops when you pause, and picks up where you skip to.
Scripts plays a funscript on the Handy on its own, without a video: one of x4u's fourteen originals, from a gentle warm-up to six minutes flat out; a.funscript of your own, added there or dropped on the page; or the script of any scene in your library. Pick one and press play. It goes at the speed you choose, loops if you like, and keeps going with the page closed or your phone locked: x4u keeps its time, not the browser. A bar at the bottom of every page shows it, to pause or stop it from anywhere.
The Handy is a little ahead of or behind the picture.
Move Timing in Settings → Toys, a little at a time: later if the Handy moves before the picture does, earlier if after. Headsets and TVs often show frames a little late. In the VR Theatre, More (the three dots) has the same timing beside the toy's switch, as − and +, so you can set it while you watch.
I have more than one script for a video.
Keep them all beside it, each with a word in its name: video.funscript, video.hard.funscript, video.soft.funscript. The player's Toy button then lists them, and the one you pick is remembered for that video. In the VR Theatre it's Script, under More. Files named for another axis of a multi-axis toy (twist, roll, pitch and the like) are left alone: x4u moves the Handy, which has one.
How do I stop it following one video, or one device?
The player's Toy button, top left, turns it off and on for the device you're watching on. Each device remembers its own, so someone watching on a phone doesn't move it.
It says my Handy isn't online.
It needs to be on and in Wi-Fi mode, its light purple, on a network with internet: x4u reaches it through the Handy's own service, as the Handy's app does. Check the connection key too: it changes if you reset the Handy.
Which toys work?
The Handy, on firmware 4 or later, for now. Update it in the Handy's app if x4u can't move it.
