5. Phones and tablets
Watch on your phone, at home or away, behind a PIN.
- Turn on other devicesIn Settings → Other devices, turn on network access and set a PIN.
- Open the address on your phoneSettings lists x4u's addresses. Open one in your phone's browser, on the same Wi-Fi as the computer.
- Enter the PIN onceEach device remembers it. Add the page to your home screen to open x4u like an app.
If a video stutters on a phone, choose a smaller size from the player's quality menu and x4u converts it as it plays. It steps down by itself when a phone can't play a video or the Wi-Fi can't keep up.
Away from home: never forward a port on your router to x4u, because its connection isn't made for the open internet. Install Tailscale on the computer and your phone, and open x4u at the computer's Tailscale address.
