6. VR headsets
Your library in a Quest, at full quality, with nothing to install.
On a Meta Quest, x4u plays in the headset's own browser, with nothing to install. Your library is a curved wall around you, and videos play at full quality, 8K included, over your Wi-Fi.
- Turn on other devicesIn Settings → Other devices, turn on network access and set a PIN, as for a phone.
- Open a secure address in the headsetHeadsets only play VR on secure pages, so use one of the https addresses in Settings → Other devices. The first time, the browser warns that the connection isn't private: x4u makes its own certificate, because no public one covers a home network.
- Install x4u's certificate, to stop the warningSettings → Other devices gives its address. Open it in the headset's browser, then install the file as a CA certificate in the headset's settings, under Security, Encryption and credentials.
- Enter the TheatreIt's in x4u's sidebar. Every VR scene also has its own Enter VR button.
Prefer DeoVR or HereSphere? Both can open your x4u library in their own player, with covers, chapters and funscripts. DeoVR's covers come from StashDB, so scenes it doesn't know show none there. Use x4u's plain http address there, as those apps don't trust x4u's own certificate, and sign in with any name and your PIN as the password.
The Quest guide covers the headset in depth: Wi-Fi, VR formats and fixes. The x4u Theatre shows what it does.
